About the Founder
Bethany, known affectionately as "Ocean Bethany" by the children she inspires, is a marine biologist, writer, and photographer who balances her passion for the ocean with being a mom to three energetic boys.
Bethany’s global adventures in science and photography have introduced her to a myriad of incredible marine creatures, including spotted dolphins, tiger sharks, manta rays, and leatherback sea turtles. Her work has been featured in prestigious outlets such as National Geographic, National Geographic Kids, Oceana, and Run Wild My Child. Additionally, she produced an award-winning children's environmental documentary on gopher tortoises with Schoolyard Films and has authored scientific articles on dolphin behavior and movement patterns.

As a partner photographer with Girls Who Click, Bethany helps empower young women aged 13-30 to break into the predominantly male field of nature photography and use their skills for conservation. She is also a dedicated member of Everyday Extinction, working to raise awareness about the global biodiversity crisis.
Passionate about encouraging families to explore the great outdoors—especially the water—Bethany co-founded 100 Blue Hours, an initiative designed to inspire families to connect with nature and enjoy aquatic adventures.
